Q: external disk drive and apple tv.

I have a mac book air, an external disk drive and apple tv. If I play a dvd, such as an exercise video, in the disk drive, I can see it on the computer, but not on the TV with air play. Air play does work in displaying what is on the computer, when not using the external disk drive. Is it just not possible to use air play with the external disk drive, or is there a simple fix?

It has nothing to do with the drive, the DVD player app is blocked from mirroring. You would need to use something like VLC.
