iTunes error: -1

Plz help - am having problems with iTunes. When I open iTunes it says "Warning! The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. [which i haven't done]. Please reinstall iTunes." Then it opens normally.

I can't uninstall iTunes - it doesn't appear in the add/remove program list in the control panel. So I try to reinstall. When I do, it comes up with error: -1, it says Quick Time failed to install [I don't want Quick Time in any case] and then it says iTunes wasn't installed succesfully, error 1628.

Any ideas? Thanks!

When you install iTUnes you have to also install quicktime. they come bundled together because iTUnes uses the quicktime engine to play audio and video files.

Id say your getting this error because quicktime is conflicting with something. Try cleaning out the installer files by going here and rolling down to "Clean up iTunes installer files on the computer" http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976

You may also want to try the stand alone version of quicktime here http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html

Thx for advice. I followed it, but still have same problems, except that I have now managed to eliminate error message: -1.

I've downloaded standalone QT, but I still keep getting error message 1628: Failed to complete installation. This appears after it says that QT has been succesfully installed!

I downloaded Windows Installer Cleanup as suggested but still getting same warning message when I open iTunes as I was getting before.
