Installer stuck on "Waiting for other packages to finish installing"

I was trying to install MySQL for my computer. Upon launching installer and trying to install the product, the bar became striped and said "Waiting for other packages to finish installing". After a brief internet search and following the instructions from a website i found, i typed in skme command in terminal and tried to restart the computer. I got a message saying i couldn't restart cause Parallels Desktop was being installed (Which i tried installing a while ago) with a blue loading bar that didn't seem to be moving. it didn't give me the option to cancel the installation or restart the computer. I am worried that it will be like that infinitely because it has been over a week since i tried installing parallels desktop and i will not be able to install anything or restart my computer. Should i wait and see if it finishes even though it has already been about an hour or should i take it to the apple store and see what they can do??? Pleas respond soon so that i can fix this problem and uninstall parallels desktop hopefully...

Back up all data.

Triple-click the line below on this page to select it:

/var/db/mds/system/mds.install.lock

Right-click or control -click the highlighted line and select

Services Reveal

from the contextual menu.* A folder may open with an item selected. If so, move the selected item to the Trash. You'll be prompted for your administrator password.

*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select

Go Go to Folder...

from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
