Jul 27, 2013 10:08 PM in response to tiltedreplicaby mende1,Welcome to Apple Support Communities
If you haven't got a MacBook Pro with Retina display, the MacBook hasn't got the HDMI port. As your MacBook Pro has got Thunderbolt, you just need a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter and a HDMI cable.
See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4241 As Thunderbolt and Mini DisplayPort have got the same port, plug the adapter to the Thunderbolt port, and then connect the HDMI cable. Image will start showing in the TV automatically

Jul 27, 2013 11:21 PM in response to tiltedreplicaby nbar,This depends on your MBP and TV specs, really, but here is how to do it. I'll post pictures for each.
Make sure your TV either has an HDMI input or a DVI-D input. If your TV only has a DVI input, there are HDMI adapters, but you still need to seperately connect audio.
Via HDMI:
1) MBP Mini Display Port > Mini Display Port to HDMI Adapter > HDMI cable > HDMI input 1 (for example) > HDMI 1 source on external display (TV)
2) MBP Mini Display Port > Mini Display Port to HDMI cable > HDMI input 1 (for example) > HDMI 1 source on external display (TV)
Via DVI-D: Need to seperately connect audio.
-Video
MBP Mini Display Port > Mini Display Port to DVI Adapter > DVI-D (or DVI-I) cable > DVI-D input > DVI source on External Display (TV in this case)
-Audio
MBP Audio out Port > Aux (3.5 mm) to RCA cable > Audio L R input > External Display

Mini Display Port to HDMI cable (easiest way):
If you do not get this cable, you need an adapter + HDMI cable:
Adapters:
HDMI CABLE:
720/1080P external display interface (bit outdated). You want the HDMI port. Then change source to correct input (HDMI IN1, here)

MBP Mini Display Port > Mini Display Port to DVI Adapter > DVI-D (or DVI-I) cable > DVI-D input > DVI source on External Display (TV in this case)
or
MBP Mini Display Port > Mini Display Port to DVI Adapter > DVI to HDMI cable > HDMI input > HDMI input on External Display (TV in this case)
