Lots of kernel panics since 25 July

My MacBook Pro mid 2009 has just started having random kernel panics where it just reboots and tells me that there was a kernel panic. It has even done it whilst asleep. This has happened since coming back from our holiday, the MacBook Pro was scanner by the X-Ray scanner.

I have tried: permission repairs, removing and reseating the RAM, blowing dust out of the cooling vents etc, and resetting the SMC.

The panics happen when under load and also when sitting there with me not doing anyuthing for a while. There is planty of free RAM available, it is not paging out. The CPUs are not running flat out.

The system log is always the same so I am posting it here hoping that it means something to someone and they can interpret it for me! The part "hfs_UNswap_BTNode: invalid backward link...hfs_endian.c:297" is always there.
