How to use a sampler with Garage Band?

I find it kind of stupid that the ios version of GarageBand has a built in sampler with a keyboard that lets you use your own audio files, but the Mac version doesn't. Is there any function in the Mac version that lets you do this? besides making your own instrument and manually adding all the sounds to the according keys.

But that is the only supported way -sorry.

  • Create a track and record all the samples you want on that track, one sample per note.
  • Create a Track for the "Sound Effects Instrument".
  • Show the "Musical Typing" window.
  • Drag each sample to the corresponding key on the Musical Typing keyboard.
  • Save your new instrument with a new name.
