I have bought a hp deskjet 3055A printer can't get it to connect to iPad or I phone

Your printer is not AirPrint compatible so you need a printing app or you need to use your computer as the print server. Your printed supports HP eprint but that is something different than AirPrint on an iOS device.
You can double check here, but I don't see your printer on the AirPrint list.
