Wheres my iPod?

Right, this might seem a bit random, but when I plug my iPod into my PC, a screen pops up called 'Autoplay,' it asks what action to take: ie: same as always, I then click ok but nothing happens. I think this is why my iPod doesn't show in itunes or my computer. but does anyone know how to sort it out?
