Battery exploded

My iPhone 4 battery ballooned and exploded the back off my phone. This is caustic stuff. Is this normal? What can be done to repair?

No. It is not normal. Take it to Apple.

I have the same problem. The battery is exploded. However, the warranty is expired. Should my phone be replaced without any charging?

Only Apple can tell you what they will do. Contact them.
