Ipod Touch 4g not recognized by docking station anymore

Hi there,

Have got a problem which just arose a few days ago, my ipod touch isnt recognized by my docking station anymore for some reason?

My docking station is a Sony RDH-GTK33iP Mini HiFi and the box it came out of says its compatible, its just all of a sudden my ipod doesnt get picked up by the dock so cant play music or charge. My Ipod was at the time I found out it wouldnt connect, was in "Headphone" mode (no idea how it got into that mode) but now I sussed that out & sound is coming out of the external speaker of the ipod again,

When connecting to the dock, the dock just keeps flashing "CONNECT" and will just keep flashing that whilst the ipod is docked on it until I take it off and then it says "IPOD" which is what it normally says when the ipod is docked and recognized, and also gives a tone confirming theres a ipod docked which doesnt happen now with this ipod, I have yet to try a different Ipod.

- Does the iPod work Ok with the internal speaker and when headphones are connected?

- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod and dock for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

- Reset the dock and go to the manufacturer's support site

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Reset all settings

Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

- Restore from backup. See:

iOS: How to back up

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

Nothing seems to be wrong with the connectors on the dock and Ive connected the ipod to my PC and it connects fine to itunes and charges without a hitch. Using headphones is normal it plays through the headphones and through the external speaker when the headphones are pulled out. Ive also reset the ipod alot of times and still getting the same result..

Ill leave restoring as a last resort

thanks for your help

Hi,

I have the exact same problem, iPod Touch 4g has always connected to hifi, home theatre and alarm clock without any problems but now for some reason is not being picked up by any of them. It charges fine and connects to iTunes no problem, no damage to dock, pins or port, just refuses to connect to anything else. I have tried a reset and a full wipe and restore as a new iPod but still nothing, the only thing that has changed is the ios version, I recently installed the latest update and thats the only thing I can put it down to. My older iPod touch - 2g - connects to everything with no problems, only drawback is there aren't any apps for internet radio for this model anymore.

If anyone finds a way round this non detecting of iPod Touch 4g, please let me know, I would truly appreciate it.

Sometimes an iOS update will breaks compatibility. Have you tried contacting the dock manufacturer? Maybe there is a firware update avaialbe for the dock..

Sometimes this fixes the problem:

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Reset all settings

Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

- Restore from backup. See:

iOS: How to back up

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

If still problem then the iOS update broke compatibilty. You will have to wait for either an iOS update or dock firmware update.

Apple does not support downgrading the iOS version

Thanks for the feedback but this exact same reply has already been published in this discussion, it didn't prove helpful then either. I have three different devices that are no longer recognising my iPod Touch 4g, all by different manufacturers, it is highly unlikely that all three are at fault when they all worked successfully before. As previously mentioned, the only thing that has changed recently is the ios version, I firmly believe this is where the fault lies.

Thank you for taking the time to reply though.

I got this for Christmas. Opened it tried out an iPhone 4 and 2 iphone 4s...all three got the flashing connect. I dug out my old ipod nano 2g.And it worked fine all day xChristmas and the day after. Tried using it today and I am now getting the flashing connect. I believe this could be a problem w the unit itself. Going to call customer support either today or next week.
