Try deleting the cache associated with the App Store ...

Quit the App Store if it's open.

Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder

Type or copy paste the following:

~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/Cache.db

Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.

Relaunch the App Store and try downloading Mountain Lion.

You can resume a download by clicking Purchases then click Resume or from the App Store menu bar click Store > Check for Unfinished Downloads.

This worked for me too, thanks. After moving the cache file (I moved it using Terminal rather than delete it just in case it contained other information that was needed) the AppStore application needed me to log out then log back in. It then thought that I had not made any purchases which was a worry. I then searched the AppStore for the application and it knew I had bought Mountain Lion and offered it for re-download, which has now completed.

Thanks for your post.
