my macbook pro 13 inch late 2012 model has serial number that is not recognised by apple support site. Does anyone know what the problem is?

I've checked that number against the number shown on the about apple screen too and its the same, when typed in though it comes up as not recognised? I've cut and paste from the about apple screen and also re typed it in manually, no luck.
Did you get the logic board replaced? Note that in this case, the serial number may not appear. I recommend you to contact with Apple > http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
If your MacBook was purchased less than 14 days ago, you can return it and get a new one free of charge
No i've had no maintenance done at all and it was purchased from an authorised apple store.
In that case, you can try taking the MacBook to that reseller and see what they can do
Are you sure you aren't typing a Zero ( 0 ) for an OH ( o/O) or the reverse? Or even a One ( 1 ) for a L or reversed?
