My Macbook Pro will not play an "MPEG-4" file I had converted from an MTS file. It says, "QuickTime Player can't open "QA 1 of 5.mp4" because the movie's file format isn't recognized."

My Macbook Pro will not play an "MPEG-4" file I had converted from an MTS file.

I get the following message when I attempt to open it:

"QuickTime Player can't open "QA 1 of 5.mp4" because the movie's file format isn't recognized."

Help please. I need it in iMovie.

iPhone 4S, iOS 5.1.1

Try using VLC to play the file: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html

VLC is a popular and very robust media player that has proven over and over to play files that QuickTime and other media players refuse to, or cannot play.
