2nd Generation Ipod Shuffle, password is not working and I would like to reset to original factory settings. Please advise

I've tried the Reset utility option and receive the error code 1417, I'm also unable to update the ipod.

I'm simply looking to reset to factory settings and start fresh. Your assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated.

If the shuffle appears in iTunes when connected, you need to use the Restore button. The Restore button is on the shuffle's Settings screen, when you select the shuffle in iTunes. This will erase the iPod, reinstall its software, and set it to default settings.
