Does iPhone bought in India work in US as well?

I am from India. I am using iphone 4 and i am planning to take iphone 5. If i buy iphone in India, will it work if i move to US or something?

If you purchase an unlocked iPhone it will work on GSM carriers in the US (T-Mobile or AT&T). However, do know that if you purchase a phone in India and you have problems with it, it will need to be returned to India for repair or replacement. The warranty on the iPhone is NOT international. Keep this in mind. You're much better off purchasing an iPhone in the US if you plan on moving there.
