I can't see the app update screen on the App Store for my ipad 2. Does anyone know why?

For some reason I can go into the App Store on my ipad2 but then when I touch the update tab nothing appears on the screen. I see the number indicating I have updates available but since I can't see anything I can't update. Anyone know whats wrong or what I should do?
