Sync ichat on imac with ichat on ios?

I'm two days into being a full time iMac user, having jumped ship from the PC world, and I have to admit, I'm loving it. Little bit of a learning curve; mostly how to do certain things, and were things are located. Not too much of a problem, as the net if full of tutorials and "how to's".

The issue I'm having is with iChat. Maybe I just misunderstand. I've been an iOS user since the first iPod touch, and have had an iPhone since the 3G, and have always been under the impression that if you owned a mac and any other Apple device, that they were designed to mesh together, sync, into one cohesive universe. That being said, what's the deal with iChat? Is there a way to sync iChat with my iPhone iChat, so that I can message my phone contacts from my iMac, or is the iMac iChat it's own animal, completely isolated from the iOS iChat?

Thanks in advance for any and all insight.

Cheers,

AV

AmberView,

You do have 90 days of Free AppleCare telephone support available to use. As a new user I would strongly encourage you to use that as your first line of help. I would also encourage you to buy AppleCare if you haven't already. What Applecare provides is a two year extension on your 1 year warranty and also 3 years of telephone support. The cost is modest and the service is normally excellent. If you need assistance about the phone number (btw please complete your profile!!!) you can find it by using:

Thanks for that rkaufmann87,

Perhaps I should have mentioned that I purchased a second hand iMac, so those options don't apply in this situation, unfortunately. Also, aren't these forums for things just like this? I suppose I could drive the forty five minutes to the apple store to ask a simple question, but I really thought I could get some help here in the help forums. I'm very surprised at the lack of input that I've found here. If I'd have asked why OS X is better than Windows, I think this thread would be pages long. I'm amazed that not one person out of all those that have viewed my question can give me an answer.
