My iPhone 5 will not switch to landscape. when texting or using safari it will work during games or if I go to home screen turn phone sideways and double tap select messages then it will go to landscape. I have tried locking it then unlocking it. I have even tried doing a soft reboot an nothing seems to work? Any ideas of the problem an how to fix it?

You are aware that Home screen do not rotate?
I have to go to home screen turn my phone sideways then while its sideways double tap an select messages ect. When it pulls it back up it will rotate screen sideways. While its in landscape I can turn phone upright an it won't switch I have to repeat the same steps.
Okay, so while in the Messages app (ignore Home Screen for a moment), the screen doesn't go from landscape to portrait? And you are turning the iPhone right side up (home button at the bottom) when you go back to vertical, yes?
Yes lol I have had this phone since day it came out an yesterday it started doin this. I have to go to home screen turn it sideways then open the app back up where I left off an it will go sideways.
I wish I could show ya an it's got me confused why it stopped rotating.
You have 3 choices:
1. Do a Reset
Reset: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Note: You will not lose any data
2. Restore from backup using iCloud or computer iTunes
3. Restore as new, then sync content back manually.
I have done the reset for some reason that's not even working.
The reset is only one I have tried ill try another

I'm trying to understand, is the reset not working or the reset did not solved the issue?
If it's the latter, you got 2 more choices.
And if both above did'nt help, make an appoimtment with the genius at an Apple Store.

Only if you have done iCloud backup before you can use iCloude restore.

The reset did not solve the issue I just did a complete reset an restore from the cloud from a date prior to my phone messing up an it still did not solve the issue so I have an appointment set to see a genius.
