Q: how do I download java for MAC OS 10.7

I need help finding what version of Java I am running and getting the latest version

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.7.5), It looks like JAVA is not installed

    Download and install Apple Java 2013-004. Do you need to have Java running? If not, then don't install it.

     

    To find the version of Java you now have open Terminal in the Utilities folder and paste the following at the command prompt:

     

    java -version

     

    Press RETURN.

     

    If Java is installed you will get some lines a bit like these:

     

    java version "1.6.0_51"

    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_51-b11-457-11M4509)

    Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.51-b01-457, mixed mode)
