Q: Any word on a lite version of Logic X?

Any idea if Apple will release a lite version of Logic X? Or if I can update from Express 8 to Pro 8 or Pro 9?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

    I seriously doubt that you will see a lite version since they discontinued Logic Express and lowered the price on Logic Pro (which is now what Express used to cost.)

     

    You may be able to find old upgrades to move from, e.g. LE8 to Logic Studio, but I think you're thinking about this the wrong way.  Even if you can find an upgrade for $50 less than LP X, you would be getting outdated software with no upgrade path.

    For $199 you can get the spanking-new LP X which includes several GBs of instruments and loops.  And for $29 more you could add MainStage.

     

    Having said all that, I do understand that you could have reasons why you might not want LP X, e.g. if you have an older computer that doesn't meet system requirements, or if you want to get your hands on apps like Soundtrack Pro and Waveburner that were part of the Logic Studio suite and are no longer being developed.

    I have a late 09 imac running 10.6.8, so my machine doesn't meet the requirements for Logic Pro X. That's mainly why I want Logic Studio.  Anybody know where I can find it?
