why are there missing samples in Logic Express 9

There are missing samples in Logic Express 9. All the pop horn samples and some of the string samples as well as some others. How do I get them back?

Hey Guitarist, since this thread was started, I thought I'd see if I could respond to your question. I believe I am seeing the same issue that Silvertable77 was. To answer your question, I do not have an 07 Pop Horns folder at all. It skips right past it. And when using LE I am given some software instrument options, but when I select them, it says it can't find the file (or something to that effect) and do I want to search for it. My search always comes up empty.

So it is giving me choices to select instruments from the library that it says it can't find. I find that strange. Any thoughts you might have would be great.

Do you have GarageBand installed on your computer also? If so, go to HD>Library>Application Support>GarageBand>Instrument Library>Sampler>Sampler Instruments and look for Baritone Sax.exs, Funk Horn Section.exs, and Soprano Sax.exs.

Logic Express, Logic Pro, and GarageBand share some loops and instruments and as far as the 3 examples above are concerned, I think they are included in the original GarageBand Jam Pack 1.

That is a great suggestion. I DO have garageband installed also. When looking into the library there, I have a Sampler Instruments folder, in that is a few instuments (ie Grand Piano.exs, Hip Hop Kit.exs, Muted Electric Bass.exs, Rock Kit.exs, Steel String Acoustic.exs, Upright Jazz Bass.exs) and ANOTHER Sampler Instruments folder. And in that one, is ANOTHER Sampler Instruments folder, and that one is empty. Not sure if my screen grab will come through for you to see.

So there is not much sitting in the Garageband Samper Instruments at all. And the mysterious multiple Sampler Instruments folder train.

You may want to try reinstalling GarageBand. Even if you have no Jam Packs installed I should think you would have more than 6 instruments in the core application. I have a lot more, but I also have LE9, Logic Pro X, and Mainstage 3 in addition to GB with all of its Jam Packs.

By the way, you might want to consider buying Mainstage (but be sure to check system requirements.) Why? Because for $30 you not only get a cool application but after you install it you are able to download additional content at no additional cost. This content includes, for example, Apple loops and instruments and every GB Jam Pack ever made (6 in all), which used to sell for $100 each. These can be accessed by GB, Logic, and Mainstage.
