iMessage random message sort

Hello,

I have a large problem with iMessage on OS X. I'm using an 2013 iMac and an Macbook Pro Retina, both with OS X 10.8.4. On both devices i have registered my iMessage account and jabber accounts.

But iMessage is nearly unusable, the messages are sorted by random and the messenger app switches between iMessage and Jabber randomly, when this happens the Messages are sorted randomly too.

An other really large problem is that sometimes messages not send, if i resend them the messages are sorted randomly.

In some cases, not very often iMessage uses 100% CPU and never stops, i tested if it stops, but after 8h i killed the process. I even tried a fresh install with new user but it didn't helped. Only on my iPhone iMessage works. Even on my iPad the messages are sometimes not appear.

I spoke with some friends, the have Macbook Pros and iMacs as well, they have the same Problem. Some stopped using iMessage because it is so broken.

How could Apple publish such a buggy Product, doesn't the developer use it or why they don't mind ?!?!

I found very much people with the same problem online, but no one has a solution.

Best Regards,

Martin

HI,

The Main Messages window (Window Menu > Messages (CMD + 0) ) displays ther current chats and conversations down the left hand side.

The order is controlled in the View Menu > Sort Conversations > Time or Manually.

Basically the Time option makes the latest chat to have an IM or iMessage to rise to the top of the list.

This happens fro incoming and outgoing chats/Conversations.

I tend to refer the Chats and Conversations separately as Apple also talks about them separately.

iMessages tend to be in Conversations.

Chats are with Buddies and consist of individual IMs (Instant Messages).

If you Messages Menu > Preferences > Accounts list the iMessages account and other AIM and Jabber logins then you can have both Conversations and Chats.

If, on the other hand you mean that in iMessages conversations that the order of individual iMessages are out of order then this is a "known issue".

It mostly applies to iMessages being synced from the iPhone (or iPad)

It used to happen in the Messages beta in Lion.

Basically if you started a conversation on your iPhone and then turned the mac on and launched Messages it would sync the conversation you had been having.

However any new "live" iMessages would be received instantly and placed out of order in the sync.

People are reporting that this and slight variations to this are still present in Messages.

At the OS X 10.8.4 update Apple did say they had tackled one possible cause to this (Suggesting there could be multiple causes).

However the App remained at version 7.0.1 meaning it was not updated, which is turn suggests Apple changed something somewhere else.

I would tend to use the iChat Feedback page

http://www.apple.com/feedback/ichat.html

The Version number drop downs have never kept proper pace with the app or the OS X updates so type your specs in the free text area.

Hello,

the message sort is by time but this didn't sort it by time.

I think that i know what you mean with sync, but i think the sync is the problem iMessage is still a beta :/

Even i read that there was an update but i didn't see any improvement and even on many forums the user found no changes.

If iMessage would be made by a small team of one or two people which are doing it at there free time i think it would be ok, but iMessage was made by a large team with millions of dollar for developement. Why can't they fix it ?

I'm developing hardware and my main problem is time, but i must produce things which work, and want that other developer do the same when i pay them. i didn't understand the bugs.

HI,

Throughout the life of the various iChat apps there have been similar issues at times.

However on the whole they seemed to have been resolved a lot sooner than this current issue.

The OS X 10.8.4 update info did say one of the issue that might cause the the out of order syncing had been tackled.

However the App itself remained at version 7.0.1 suggesting it was one of the support parts that got changed.

Like you say though no-one has reported that anything about this update worked for them.

Prompting them via the feedback route is the only option at present.
