MIDI Problem Logic Pro X

When I change the MIDI channel of a track in Logic Pro X I can't hear the sound any more. I can't find how to reassign a new MIDI instrument to the track. Closing the program and reopening it again solves the problem and all instruments are available again. Is there another solution without leaving Logic? Thanks for help.

Sorry, I'm talking about software instruments.

Later, the file has to address channel 3 for an external instrument (carillion).

The songs are saved on a SSD-card and read by a MIDI computer. This device controls the carillion.

Once the channel is changed I can't control the sound anymore. With Logic Pro 9 it worked without problems. Logic Pro X won't do it.

Im not sure why you are not using two tracks instead of one.

One track for the Software Instrument and then one for the External Instrument..

Is there a reason that is 'passing me by'?

if the above makes no sense to you then....

Im not sure you are really talking about Software Instruments (which are sounds created by the computer Logic is running on) but External Midi Instruments where the sound is created by Hardware based Midi Instruments... Like your Carrilion

Am I right? Or again, am I missing something?
