I understand that bluetooth on your iMac is no longer functioning correctly. Usually, this issue can be resolved by simply restarting the computer:
OS X: Bluetooth devices become unresponsive

Symptoms
Your Bluetooth devices may suddenly become unresponsive, or Bluetooth features may not be available at all on your Mac.
Resolution
Shut down your Mac, disconnect all USB devices for two minutes, start up, and re-connect your USB devices once again.
