Phone calls set to NOT view in lock screen yet they still appear

On my previous iPhone 4 running iOS6, when I set phonecalls to 'no notifications' and selected to NOT view in the lockscreen, whenever anyone phoned me the screen remained switched off and no notifications were visible in the lockscreen. On my iPhone 5 however, with the settings as mentioned, whenever someone calls me the screen lights up and the caller's name is visible. For security reasons and as I leave my phone locked but visible to various people, I don't want my callers to be shown to whoever is looking at my phone. Is this a bug or was it a 'nice' bug on my iPhone 4?

Possibly Do Not Disturb? I've never tried to turn my phone off completely, but I am experimenting. I'll get back to you.

EDIT: I've tried every combination of Notification Center, badges, alerts, turning off lock screen and there is no way I can get my phone (other than the DND function) to keep from getting a notice on the phone of a call.
