Anyone else experiencing problems with USB 2 core audio 2 output to a D/A device such as the DacMagic Plus?
USB 1 with the audio 1 protocol doesn't work either.
The volume slider turns grey as soon as I select the DMP as output device.
I tested on two macs running 10.8.4.
Then I tested on a Powerbook G4 running the latest PPC OS version. On this machine the connection with the DacMagic functioned flawlessly.
Thanks for your quick reply. DacMagic needs no additional drivers.
In the meantime: it works again!
- On one machine I edited
file://localhost/Library/Preferences/Audio/com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist
file://localhost/Library/Preferences/Audio/com.apple.audio.DeviceSettings.plist
and removed all Dacmagic sections.
(Back up first!!)
I am not sure it was this that did the trick however.
Suddenly on both machines everything started to work again. Still don't know exactly why.
I recently had this issue after upgrading to OSX Mavericks (Final release) and none of the above recommendations solved the problem.
Finally I zapped the PRAM and voila, back in business. The Cambridge Audio DacMagic Plus reappeared in the Sound panel within the System Preferences window.
Hope this helps any other users which come across the problem.
