I have been trying to update my ipod, which is 4th gen, that has an operating system of 4.2.1 and it keeps popping up that it was unable to update because there isn't enough space on the disk. Please help.

I have attempted to update my ipod for a long time. I have erased and restored my ipod many times and it still does not want to update always saying that there is not enough space on disk to update.

iPod touch, iOS 4.2

Connect your iPod to your computer and launch iTunes.

Select the iPod under Devices left side of the iTunes window in the source list.

Click Summary from the menu.

At the bottom of the iTunes window you will see how much free space is available.

If it's less than 500 MBs... you need to delete content in order to free up storage space.

Apps, music, video, photos, etc.
