Q: iTunes Match/cloud vs iCloud disk storage

I assume these are different? A clarification would help…

    There is no music storage in an iCloud account.

     

    iTunes Match allows you to store up to 25,000 individual songs (tracks) in the iTunes cloud, this storage (a) does not include tracks purchased from iTunes (they are already there) and (b) does not impact the storage in your iCloud acount.

     

    So, if you rip songs from a CD you need iTunes Match to put them online for retrieval from other devices, if you only purchase tracks from iTunes you don;t need Match, you will gain nothing from it.

     

    An iCloud account is not required for music storage.
