iPod touch 5G starts playing music on its own.

I bought an iPod touch 5G in March, and this morning I got new EarPods (with remote and mic). A few weeks ago, I paused my music, and went away for about 30-40 minutes, and when I came back I realized that my music had started playing itself. I experienced this problem about 6 or 7 times since then to today..help! Where I live, we don't have Apple Stores, so no Genius Bar (I do have one authorized reseller in my city, but it's a tiny little shop, and they don't have any experts there), and also, I am really not willing to do a restore, and I'm sure that it's not the Shake to Shuffle feature...Please help!

iPod touch, iOS 6.1.2

- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.

- Try a different pair of headphones. There could be a problem with the headphones since the remote can actuate the iPod's music. Also, that tends to happen when y get the remote sweaty/wet
