Macbook pro, beach ball of death

I have a MacBook Pro, OS10.7.5, 2.2Ghz, Intel Core, 4Gb memory. It's annoyingly slow sometimes and the "beach ball" of death apperas regardless of the program I use. It sometimes appears even if I am in Finder and try to open a folder. After about 6 sec, the ball disappears, and I can operate the software. Periodically it comes back, I wait...then go back to using the laptop. Is it the OS causing it? My hardware? My drives? My memory? It's soooo annoying because I have to wait until it disappers so I can continue working. Any suggestions? Much appreciated.

Let's look at any software problems first - download and run EtreCheck and copy the information resulting and post it in a reply here.

I am having the same issue as above stated. Mac book pro 10.7.5 2GHz i7 4GB 1333 DDR3

The machine is freezing up perodically. Force qui will show Google Chrome as not responding. Trying to quit Chrome does nothing, and the force quit window sits there until there is an error. The error stats the a connection to a windows station had been interrupted and timed out.

The machine is running simultanious RDP sessions into two different Windows servers in addition to that one of the servers is given permission to access the local drive soreport save time is decreased. I followed instructions above and sadly was not lucky enough to find pacesupport. Here is a copy of the report from Etre Check:

Hi Clinton, you seem to be very good at this!

Would you please take a look at my log, I am desperate and have tried a lot so far (e.g. erased many caches, all sorts of stuff other beachball-people said was gonna help, but effectively never really helped me for longer than a couple of days). Usually I get the beachball, regardless of the app, once a day and it resolves itself after 1-5 min.

Lately also my trackpad stops working randomly (keyboard stays functionable), and resolves itself after 5 min....probably and most likely not related to my beachball, which I had for almost a year now...

Your consideration is much appreciated!

Well, clinton, I'm very impressed at your ability to discern the root of peoples issues on their Macs 🙂 I was wondering if you could take a look at my results as well, as I have just purchased an Early 2011 MacBook Pro i7, and have more beach balls than I would have expected from such a newer system running very minimal apps. Just a heads up, I created a new user, giving full admin rights, and then deleted ALL of the previous owners stuff when prompted in System Preferences>Users & Groups. This did keep some things around (like a copy of CS 🙂) among some other apps.
