Having trouble getting my LaserJet to show up on network

I just purchased a new 27-inch iMac. I'm trying to get my LaserJet 1525 to show up to no avail. It worked wirelessly on my former Mac Pro tower.

I realize this could be more of an HP issue, but I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions. I've tried a USB connection to at least start the connection and that's not working either.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm using the latest OS.

Do you have an HP LaserJet Pro CP1525NW?

Have you attempted to add the printer in System Preferences > Print & Scan?

If you want to use it wirelessly, don't use its USB port. That will just confuse matters since a printer connected to a Mac's USB port and the same printer connected wirelessly may as well be two different printers, as far as the Mac is concerned.

OS X Mountain Lion: Set up a printer to print wirelessly

I'm using the latest OS.

By that I assume you are using OS X 10.8.4 "Mountain Lion" and that it is updated with the most recent HP drivers.

Thanks for the fast reply, John.

I do have 10.8.4 plus the latest driver from HP.

HP suggested doing a wired connection first, and of course, if I want to be wired, that works.

But this printer has printed wirelessly for the past year with my Mac Pro tower, iPads, Mac Books, iPhones, etc.

I deleted the printer, then when ahead and added the Nearby Printer, but it still says it's not connected.

I will read through all the links you provided. Thanks again.

At the end of Troubleshoot a network printer is a link to "reset the printing system". Be sure to read that too.

A basic troubleshooting step is to ensure you can "ping" the printer's IP address from your Mac. Use Network Utility - it's in your Mac's Utilities folder - and type the printer's IP address in as shown. You should get a response similar to the following:

If you get a response similar to the following, something is wrong with the network connection:
