I am having the same problem with my Comcast account. On Aug 1, at 4pm EST, my phone wanted to download about 5000 emails from the comcast server. I turned the phone off. When I turned it back on, it stoped the download and then stopped receiving new emails. I called Comcast that evening and they could not help becuase their customer unservice *****. The next morning, I was able to receive emails and things were fine until 4pm on Aug 2, when the iphone 5 started to download 5000 emails. This time, I let it go and it stopped and now again I can't get new emails.

I deleted the comcast account and re applied it and now, I have the 500 emails (per my iphone set up) but the newest email is dated exactly 1 month ago to the day.

I am having the same issues on my two other Ipads so this is seems to be a problem between both Apple and Comcast. Both will just blame the other. It is curious that this began on Aug 1 and the same issues happen at the same time of the day.

I am so frustrated with Apple, I should have kept my Andriod.

That is an extremely illogical statement. Apple has absolutely nothing to do with this. Comcast is the email provider and hosts the servers. Apple has no control over this.

Stop trying to blame Apple when you know not what you speak of.

Comcast has an email server problem, until they resolve that anyone with a comcast email account will have issues accessing it from any device. Another possible issue could be the shear number of emails in your email account. Do you ever clear out the ancient junk? 5K emails is ridiculously huge!

I went to the Sprint store where I bought my phone. As soon as I described my problem, the gent behind the couter knew the about my situation and then proceeded to tell me that this issue is due to problems with both Apple and Comcast. These two organizations just don't work well together and customers suffer. There is no fix offered by either Apple nor Comcast other than using the xFinity email app. But then you can't send pictures or use the iphone or ipads to the fullest.

Very frustrating, especially as this problem seems to be sporadic and does not affect a large group of people. Note that this problem does not seem to affect gmail nor Android users according to the folks at Sprint.

Ironically, I get emails from the Comcast server, but they up today exactly one month prior to today. For example, today, I see my emails are updated to 7/5/13 with today being 8/5/13. Tomorrow, I will see all my 7/6/13 emails. And finally, I can send emails, just cannot receive.

Not according to Sprint. I'll take their word over the Mac/Apple folks blinded by their love over Apple.

Seriously? You will believe some schmuck behind the counter at Sprint that likely has no clue what he's talking about over someone on a public forum? Talk about blind faith.

Have you even looked at the Comcast forums to see if other users are reporting the issue?

If this were an Apple issue, it would be affecting more than just Comcast.

Then why are you here? Seems to me you should be contacting a teenage Sprint counter-jockey for help with your Comcast email...an idea that sounds about as dumb as your assertion that said Sprint employee would know what he/she's talking about.

What I've learned over the past week is that Apple lovers have very thin skin and Apple removes offensive posts only if someone is being mean to them. But Apple lovers are allowed to say whatever they want.

Here is a recap of my problems only to help the many other Apple users with the same problem (Comcast, Verizon, Time Warner):

1. On August 1, 2013 at 4:30pm, my iphone, which is set to accept the latest 200 emails from Comcast started to download a large number of emails. The result of this bizzare action was the lastest email in my inbox was dated July 1, 2013.

2. On August 2, 2013 at 8AM, my iphone was working fine.

3. On August 2, 2013, at 4:30pm, my iphone, which is set to accept the latest 200 emails from Comcast started to download a large number of emails. The latest email in my inbox was dated July 2, 2013.

4. On August 3, 2013, the emails from July 3, 2013 came onto the iPhone.

5. On August 4, 2013, the emails from July 4, 2013 came onto the iPhone.

6. On August 5, 2013, the emails from July 5, 2013 came onto the iPhone.

7. On August 5, 2013, at 4PM, the phone started to operate normally.

8. On August 6, 2013, the problems began again.

All the while, my outlook on my PC is working just fine. How this could only be a Comcast issue defies logic.

If anyone has any solutions, other than name calling, please let me know.

My Comcast email account fail and stop getting new email.
