deleting a photo

When I try to delete a photo (seems to apply to aps as well) rom my iphone, macbook or ipad I get a warning that the photo will be deleted from all devices. How can I keep a photo on one device but delete it from other devices? Does this happen only in Photostream, or icloud?

iPhone 4, iOS 6.1.3

Which album are you deleting the photo from? If you delte from the Camera roll on a device, or from an event in iPhoto on your mac, this will only remove the photo from the device, and from all albums and projects that it is used in.

But if you delete from the Photo Stream album, the photo will be removed from iCloud and the Photo Stream on all devices. Any photos imported from the Photo Stream to monthly projects or saved to the camera roll will not be deleted.

Photostream is stored on iCloud for up to 30 days and you view the photos on any device that you choose - if you delete the photo from PhotoStream it will be deleted from iCloud and therefore not visibal on any device usign PhotoStream - that will not delete the original photo on the device that shared it - only the photos view in PS

If you want to keep it on any device you "import" to that device - for iPhoto on the Mac thee is a preference to do that automatically if you want to set it
