Q: Aggressive Kernel Panic on my MBP - PLEASE HELP!

I am getting this kernel panic all the time.  Sometimes within 30 minutes sometimes I won't get it for days.  Yesterday I lost count how many times it did it.  I can't even do a TM because it will eventually have a kernel panic and I have to shut down.  I don't know for sure if its software of hardware.  I just updated my OS to 10.7.5.  I was going to upgrade to Mountain Lion but didn't want to without doing a full backup.  Here is the latest report:

If your backup device is a locally-attached external hard drive, and not a network device such as a Time Capsule, boot in safe mode and try to back up. Post your results. If you back up over a network, you can't do this.

Ok I will try that to at least get a backup done.  I have an external harddrive I partitioned and have one of the partition for Time Machine.  That might fix me getting a backup but not my overall program of kernel panic.  I deleted several third party programs and drivers that stuff I don't need.  I even stopped using Chrome because I've heard that chrome causes KPs as well.  I am using Safari right now and haven't had a KP for a few hours.  Then again I would get a KP with my computer doing nothing or just doing TM with noting else running so I haven't found a try correlation between my KP and programs usage.

The backup will also be a test. Post the results.

Ok so a friend of mine convinced me it was a OS software issue so I did a clean install of OS and upgraded to Mountain Lion.  I wasn't even able to do a backup, just saved all my data files on an external HD so I have a completely naked computer.  I found out the hard way that OS wouldn't install with more than 2GB of RAM (plus I was getting KP trying to install it after I had already formatted my drive).  After I put in my original RAM of 2GB OS Lion installed without a problem.  Upgraded to Mountain Lion and then put in the "new" RAM of 8G.  Since then I had KP happen to me once.  I don't know if that isolates the problem to the RAM and maybe I need to buy new RAM but it only happened once so I am fixing my computer today and will see if it happens again.  Below is the report, let me know what you think:

Reinstall the original memory and see whether there's any improvement. Be careful not to touch the gold contacts. Clean them with a mild solvent such as rubbing alcohol. Aftermarket memory must exactly match the technical specifications for your model. Memory that is either slower or faster than specified may be incompatible.

The Apple Hardware Test or Apple Diagnostics, though generally unreliable, will sometimes detect a fault. A negative test can't be depended on. Run the extended version of the test.

If those steps don't resolve the issue, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested. You may have to leave it there for several days. There isn't much point in doing this unless you can reproduce the panic, or if you can't, it happens often enough that it's likely to be repeated at the store. Otherwise you may be told that nothing is wrong.

Print the first page of the panic report and bring it with you.

Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you know how to restore, and you have at least  two independent backups.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.

Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair

*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

Thank you for the suggestions, I tried to do Apple Hardware Test before and it didn't work.  I held D when I booted up and nothing happened. I don't hard a partition on my HD with AHT on it.  Do I  plug in the USB with the recovery on it?  I have one wutg Lion on it, since I know have ML do I need to create one for ML, and reboot with the USB attached?

    Read the link above:

Mac NoteBook and Desktop computers shipping with OS X 10.7 or later have a partition on the hard drive or flash storage that contains AHT. ...

Your MacBookPro5,5 shipped with an OS earlier than OS X 10.7 - probably Leopard. The following applies:

Using Apple Hardware Test on computers with OS X 10.5.5 to 10.6.7

AHT is located on the Applications Install Disc 2 ...

Use that. Boot with that disc inserted while holding the d key.

Upgrading to Lion had a tendency to erase the version of AHT on the boot volume. It can be reinstalled using the original Applications Install DVD (another subject altogether).

As Linc Davis indicated, only a failure should be considered a conclusive result. AHT's extended memory tests tend to be more reliable. I have had aftermarket memory pass AHT only to fail during routine use.

I do not have any disk.  The only disk I have is my Snow Leapord disk I purchase when upgrading my maching from Leapord to Snow Leapord.  So there is no applications install disc 2.  Would that disk work?

You need the original discs to run the hardware test. If you don't have those discs, just skip the test. Take the machine in for testing.

No. In that case you cannot run AHT and your ability to troubleshoot your own hardware will be limited.

You can use Rember - a free GUI for memtest. It will thoroughly test memory that has not already been allocated to running processes. Since you must obviously boot OS X to run it though, if a running process is already using a portion of memory that fails, you will simply experience a kernel panic as you have been.

Question about taking it in to Genius bar...I curently have a slave drive in my optical bay drive in an enclosure.  I took out my optical bay drive.  I have a hybrid SSD as my main HD and my old HD slave in the optical bay.  I have heard if I take my MBP in like that they will say that my warranty is void (if I still have a warranty).  Is that true?  Would they still work on it?

I don't know what they'll do. I suggest you reinstall the original RAM first and test, as I wrote earlier.

Ok I will put in the original RAM and see if I get a KP.  I will repost results in a few days.  If KP happens before then I will post suggests sooner.  Appreciate it.  On a side note I have heard mix reviews about MacKeeper.  I had it on my system before I did a clean install and debating if I should load it back on.  You seem very knowledgeable and just wanted to pick your brain on that.

"MacKeeper" is a scam. Don't install it.
