What version of iPhoto and system are you running? What iOS is on your iPhone? First do your Mac and iPhone meet the requirements for iCloud and Photo Stream?

Old Toad - I think you nailed it. My iphoto is version 8.1.2. I guess Apple wants me to buy something. iphone is 6.1, imac is 10.8.4. Thanks. Guess its back to hard wire unless you have another suggestion.
Upgrade to iPhoto '11 if you want to use PS as indicated in the link I provided - otherwise you can not use it as you do not meet the minimum requirements
