Battery life on Haswell

I got my new Haswell MacBook Air just 2 days ago, and also, this is my first ever MacBook.

So, I just noticed something in the System Information app that worries me.

I noticed that the full charge capaciy is greater than the charge remaining, even on a full charge, and so on. I am posting the image below.

Is this normal, or did I get a defective battery? If so, what do I do now? I am leaving my town for 2 years in 2 days, so I need help fast!

MacBook Air, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

Welcome to Apple Support Communities

"Full Charge Capacity" is the maximum amount of power your battery can handle, and "Charge Remaining" refers to the power your battery has got now.

Always "Charge Remaining" will be the same or less than "Full Charge Capacity", because this last one refers to the capacity your battery has got when it's at 100%. Nothing to worry about

My battery is brand new, and so I assume that it must hold 5221 mah when fully charged, not 4977. As when I took the screenshot, my battery was at 100% capacity and also charging, I guess it should have a charge of 5221 mah remaining.

In that case, there's a problem. First, reset the SMC > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

If it doesn't work, return the Mac and you will get another MacBook for free. It looks like your battery is defective

I am trying to reset the SMC right now, I will tell you if that worked. Otherwise, how long does it take to get a replacement? RIght now, I am getting 5167 mah instead of 5223, and that keeps decreasing, like, after I typed this, it is now 5165.

So you are getting 5167 mAh with the battery charged, right? It's still bad, so return the MacBook and get another one.

You will receive it when you take the MacBook, so you won't have to wait. Also, the battery decreases its capacity with the use, and it depends on the applications you are using

Sorry I accidentally clicked this helped me instead of this solved my problem.

Now I am getting 10 hours remaining on my full charge, and also full mah charge. I noticed one thing though, my battery went from 9:58 to 10:08 to 10:18 to 10:21 while typing this, thats good, but could that be caused by some other problem? Alright, its 10:20 now, so finally settling?

It's not caused by any problem. OS X changes the estimated battery time depending on the processes you are running and the apps you have opened, so it's normal that you see that type of changes
