Mac OS X 10.8.4 Time Machine stops backing up to external disk

Since the mandatory upgrade to Mountain Lion last summer I have not had a successful backup to my external hard drive (LaCie).

LaCie used to overwrite new backups over old backups, but hasn't since I installed Mountain Lion.

Any ideas on how to get Mac to cooperate with LaCie?

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4), 500GB LaCie d2 HD Quadra 7200 rpm

Well, TM isn;t bootable, & you cannot test it in advance like a clone, it may or may nov work to get you back to where you were, but frar more time involved than a clone.

Wilst the TM master Pondini, also recommends a Clone besides.. & even the great one has been stumpted on TM a few times.

I understand, if it works.. it works, but the problem is when it doesn't. :)

Cllones can be tested ahead of time, TM may or may not work when needed, & if it does it's far more time consuming than other methods of backup. 🙂
