Q: Audio cuts out on P2 Imports PRO X 10.0.9

I am importing P2 Card footage into 10.0.9.  all the audio for all the clip are cut off at the first 10 secs. I do not have perian installed and have never had this problem with 10.0.5/6

It is only the files I import into FCPX. All imports work great the old version.

I am now going over the details of the troubleshooting basics to see it one will help. I will know more tomorrow after follow all the advice in the toubleshooting article for FCPX.

ooo!  I'm having the same problem...let me know what you find out!  i am a novice, so i've done a few of these things (looking at codec, import different ways, etc), but nothing has worked so far.  the crazy part is that i've imported, audio is working, i spend a few minutes editing and render to export, then audio doesn't work.  any help on this is really appreciated.

    Hi forbeginnereseyesonly,

I think this is a big problem since I never had issues with FCPX 10.0.5 and .6. I hope a simple solutions is available. I am just baffled as to why this is happening. I am still digging and troubleshooting to figure this out.

I would hate to have to listen to everyone in the industry and stay with FCP7.  I believe in FCPX, however I feel I am lossing confidence in its reliability on simple tasks at this point.

FCP7 still works always works and works faster in some areas. FCPX has vision for the future while it just needs to just work better.

I have now followed the troubleshooting basics to the T. The audio is cut out from FCPX 10.0.9.

I decided to test FCPX 10.0.5 with the same media and the footage imports with no audio problems.

My conclusion from what is seem is the 10.0.9 is not an upgrade. It just does not work. I installed and older version and it works great with not problems.

well, i guess in a way, it makes me feel better that i wasn't importing wrong or doing anything to cause this...

now that apple knows, hopefully, they will fix it for the next upgrade.

    thanks, rjl!

    Hi Tom Wolsky,

Today I shot for the United Nations conference on water. I decided to shoot SD and not HD. I imported intor FCPX 10.0.9 and the video is cut out after the first 10 seconds. I than imported into FCP7 and all sound perfect.

Any progress on this issue and hope you can figure it out.

I have no idea and no access to this type of media.

Since apple does not know what to do with the Panasonice HVX200 camera and all the people who use this camera can you recommend a solution.

Is it ok to have 10.0.5 and 10.0.9 at the same time?

At this point it would be nice to know several things.

Your statement as to not knowing the type of media is not the problem. The import has alsways worked in older version and is not working on the last two newest version of FCPX. Are you aware of this? is apple doing anything about this and should I just move onto another product that works that is not Apple since I feel nothing is going to be done about something that has always worked from your FCPX product?

You do realize I do not work for Apple?

You can have both applications, but a 10.0.9 project cannot be opened in 10.0.5. Is that the last version that works correctly.

This is almost entirely a user to user forum. I presume you have been using feedback to report this problem.

Yes, Thank you for your guidance.

Your profile logo makes me think you did.

How can I communciate with Apple in regards to this issue because it is a time bomb for FCPX to make any sort of traction in an industry that does not really trust using the product.

    thanks again.
