Why do I see Crooked Icons and Text on my new iMac?

Hi,

I just purchased this iMac for it's reputed quality thinking that I will give up my PC. Looking around for the first time I looked at "All My Files", clicked on "About Downloads" and a window opend up. The Text and the Icons look like a child placed them in the lower right corner as they are not aligned properly and the text is lower on the right side than the left.

Is there a problem with my display? Can I expect to see poorly aligned text and icons going forward?

Thanks for you help!

One other quick note... If you are looking for this issue that I described it is on a page titled "Download Stack" that shows up when you open "About Downloads".

If it is just sloppy work with the graphics, that is a disappointment... if it is a problem with the graphics display that is more of a concern.

Thanks again for your consideration.

You should not be troubleshooting a "just purchased" Mac product.

You have 14 days to return the computer w/no questions asked. Plus you have 90 days of FREE phone tech support on top of your standard 1 year warranty unless you also purchased AppleCare which gives you an additional 2 years of coverage plus FREE phone support.

Strongly suggest that you take FULL advantage of the above before it runs out. Let Apple deal w/the problems.

O.K., I'm new with the iMac and I should have read all of the text, but it is still not totally clear. I am thinking that perhaps the crooked text and icons is meant to show a "fan display" in a Stack as opposed to a grid (but, it just looks like something is wrong with the display).

It says also that you can also vew the Stack as a LIST which would not dive me crazy like the crooked words and icons. Can anyone further explain how to view a Stack as a LIST, assuming I am on the right track here?

Thank you.

That's expected behavior with the Downloads Stack Folder. It's supposed to open with a gentle slant or "fanning" action tilted towards the upper right corner. (It's the only default dock icon that I'm aware of which does this however.) Regardless, there's nothing wrong with your iMac.

To view its contents normally without a slanted view simply click on "open in finder" at the top of the stack.

Btw, welcome to the world of Apple - I'm a newbie myself!
