I am trying to connect my i-pod to a mono speaker and it does not work. I am using a stereo to mono 3.5mm jack.

I have an original I-pod and want to connect it to a mono AM radio short range transmitter so that I can play my i-pod music through my antique car's AM radio. I am using a stereo jack to mono adapter plugged into the i-pod and then am plugging the transmitter into the adapter. This set up works fine with my portable CD player but not with my i-pod. My earphones and stereo speakers work fine with the i-pod so there isn't anything wrong with the i-pod. I even tried a stereo splitter that sneds each half of teh stereo signal to separate mono jacks and this doesn't work either. Any suggestions or ides???

Hello Janius,

I was researching what you may be able to do to troubleshoot the headphone jack if its not working.

From the article named iPod troubleshooting basics and service FAQ found http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1382:

The headphones don't work

If your iPod's headphones don't work or have static or garbled audio, try connecting them to any other 3.5 mm stereo headphone jack, like the one on your computer. If the issue with the headphones persists, replace them. For an iPod under warranty, you can order a replacement online. Otherwise, check out the cool headphones at theApple Online Store. If the issue appears to be with the iPod, try resetting it. If that doesn't work, then restore iPod with the latest iPod software using iTunes 7 or later.

Cheers,

Sterling
