iMac 27" 2013 running Windows 8.1, Any issues?

I really like to upgrade to the recent iMac 27" but will mostly run Windows 8.1 on it. Do I have to consider anything before taking the plunge?

I'm currently on a 2009 iMac 21.5 runing Windows 8 for a long time and just wanted to be sure it's my best route instead of importing a Dell XPS 27 (with Touch) on another country without local warranty (which is fine by me but a con still)

Reasons for going iMac 27 to run Windows:

  • qHD display
  • very robust build quality and specs
  • might need to run some mac apps
  • just can't buy Dell XPS 27 locally 😝

Some cons:

  • No touchscreen (fancy but not really required)
  • no disc drive
  • hard to upgrade stuffs

Thanks!

several posts about wifi or wired netcard and audio not working

not sure if we just don't hear from all the people who have no issues

since win8.1 is still beta and later on apple will release official bootcamp driver pack support I'll wait

about the no optical drive then my 2011 imac have one and rarely use it

right now there is a ps1 disc with bomber man 1/2 in it to use with the emulator in windows and to make sure a ssd card don't get in there(many people put them in there by misstake for some reason)

and 2 week ago I used it for the first time to burn a dvd

mechanical moving parts media is on the way of the dodo's like floppy droves before them

It depends on how well Boot Camp 5.x is supporting Windows 8 - some 2013 MBA with Samsung PCIe SSD had / has an issue.

I can generally run Windows fine - without any Apple drivers

8.1 is not really beta, it is Preview but there previews since Windows 7 are better than some other ".0" releases anyway. Windows 8 Developer Preview was rough around a lot of areas. 8.1 runs better than 8.0 with all updates for me. I would call it 8.1 Release Candidate - rock solid too.

There are no "8.1 certified" drivers maybe but I would not consider that a no-go game changer.

I have a sinking feeling though that Boot Camp 6 could require 10.9 which would be a bad sign.

You will have to reinstall Windows 8.1 again when the Preview expires or you want to use the release edition.
