Q: FCPX 10.0.9 is slow
Just updated to 10.0.9 and my edit is now interrupted continuously by the 'spinning wait cursor' the rainbow ball
Even (I just did this) opening the about this version window creates a lengthy pause - closing it creates another lengthy pause followed by FCPX (not responding) error
Moving the playback cursor on the timeline takes forever - playback otherwise seems fine
This version seems unusable
My system is otherwise unchanged from previous FCPX version when everything ran well
Mac Pro 10.8.4 3.2Ghz Quad core 24GB DDR3
FCPX 10.0.9 Transcoding create optimised and proxy media both ticked
External HD for edit material
Any thoughts?

Without knowing how fast your external drive is - it probably wouldn't hurt to let final cut stay open and do whatever background tasks it wants to do. You could be indexing, or perhaps your time machine is running. Perhaps FCPX is transcoding by accident. I'd let it do its thing for a few hours before testing it.
