Q: subscribed calendar not working

I went on Apple.com, support for my iphone4, ios 6.1.  I had a subscribed to calendar that worked last year and the year before. It isn't working this year.

I followed the steps on the support page, but when it instructed me to turn off calendars on icloud, then turn it back on, saving info to ios device, I lost all calendar entries.

Need help..

    Don't know what instructions you followed, but you don't have to turn off your iCloud calendars to add a subscribed calendar.  To add a U.S. holiday calendar, for example, you would do the following:

     

    1. Tap Settings
    2. Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars
    3. Scroll down and tap Add Account...
    4. Tap Other
    5. Tap Add Subscribed Calendar
    6. In the server field, input: ical.mac.com/ical/US32Holidays.ics - then tap Next
    7. On the next screen, change the name of the calendar under "Description" if you choose - then tap Save

     

    If you go to Settings>iCloud and turn Calendars back to On, your iCloud calendars should reappear on your phone.

    I've been using an account for two years, but a friend always gets mine to work.  So i'm not sure I would need to "add" an account, cuz it's already there..?

    If it's there but not working you may need to delete it and add it back.  You would need to know the server information in order to do this.  Maybe your friend can help you with this.

    I just tried to add a new account so i entered the link and got, "unable to verify account information"..

    You're welcome.  It's possible that whoever was publishing the calendar no longer supports it.  You might want to ask your friend if his/hers is working.
