Cannot Install OS

I have an old iMac G5 that I want to install 10.5 on. I have an install disk but the iMac won't boot from CD. I have a new MBP, is there anyway to install the OS from a new computer? Is there anyway I can install from an external drive? Please help! I can't get this to work! Thanks in advance!

The last OS you can install would be Leopard 10.5.x. However, you will need the retail Leopard installer DVD. You cannot use a gray labeled OEM copy as they will not work except with the model with which they came.

You should be able to find retail Leopard discs on eBay, Amazon, and Google. Be sure to buy only retail discs.

Put the Leopard DVD into your G5's optical drive. Do this:

Booting From An OS X Installer Disc

1. Insert OS X Installer Disc into the optical drive.

2. Restart the computer.

3. Immediately after the chime press and hold down the "C" key.

4. Release the key when the spinning gear below the dark gray Apple

logo appears.

5. Wait for installer to finish loading.
