Q: iMac running very slow
My iMac has suddenly started running very slow. It started with Safari being pretty unresponsive. I switched to Firefox and the browser was a little better, but the whole system has slowed to a crawl.
I have verified and fixed permissions, which used to help years ago, but seems useless now.
I have a 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 2 GB memory. My hard drive is about 1/2 full
I am running OS X 10.8.4.
Does anyone have any magic bullets?
Thanks,
Deanna

Forget about Crucial and their system scanner. Crucial memory specs are the same as Apple's own specs for the max. amount of RAM, which, according to both Apple and Crucial memory, is only 4 GBs of RAM.
If your iMac is. 2007 model it can take a total of 6 GBs of RAM.
OWC (macsales.com) has tested a combination of 4 GB and 2 GB RAM modules,in 2007-2008 iMac models, to be completely compatible and functional.
Correct and reliable Mac RAM can be purchased from online Mac source OWC (macsales.com).
They will have the full 6 GB RAM kit for your model iMac.
Crucial memory will not.
Good Luck!
