I watch some television shows on my iMac a few days after they are on. With the Apple TV can you stream the shows from an iMac to a television

Native mirroring requires a recent Mac (2011 or later) running Mountain Lion (10.8)

Alternatively you can try Airparrot or Beamer

I have the latest iMac with Mountain Lion. I am not really computer savvy, what do you mean by native mirroring

Native mirroring, the feature built in to Mountain Lion. If your Mac is recent then you should be able to mirror, see below for more info
