QuickTime won't play .mov file, says unsupported codec

I did a short 5:46 film which was edited on Avid Media Composer and exported to a 16MB USB drive as a .mov file. When I try to open it on my Macbook Air, QuickTime says the codec is not supported. I believe it's DNxHD codec. How do I get it to play? Add-on?

MacBook Air (13-inch Mid 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.5), QuickTime app says 10.1 ?

My editor just responded from the airport:

"You need to go to the avid web sight and download the DNXHD codec and put it into the QuickTime folder in the library in your computer. It is free."

Hope it works and hope it helps others with the same question!
