Aug 5, 2013 6:46 PM in response to Certafied7by a brody,If you have an iBook G4, it may not work at all. If you have an iBook G3, boot into Mac OS 9 and see if it works there.

Aug 6, 2013 1:23 PM in response to a brodyby Certafied7,Yes. I do have a iBook G4. The specs on it are Mac OS X, Version 10.4.11, running Panther also....1.33ghz PowerPC G4. If AOE2 doesn't work on disc on this laptop, could I download to make it run so I can play it?

Aug 6, 2013 2:30 PM in response to Certafied7by dalstott,It sounds to me that it needs Classic Mac OS which you can install on a G4 iBook with 10.4.11.

Aug 6, 2013 5:04 PM in response to Certafied7by a brody,★HelpfulNope, Classic is not available for download.
You must find online the original iBook G4 installer discs for your model iBook G4. No ways around it, expect the patch for Mac OS X. And even then the problem is that Classic has horrible GPU support over actually booting into Mac OS 9. I don't know if AOE works in Classic versus actually booting into Mac OS 9. Unfortuantely the iBook G4 does not support booting into Mac OS 9.
Classic environment unfortunately is two components, the program called Classic, and the Mac OS 9 system folder. On an iBook G4, the system folder for Classic was only available on the original iBook G4 installer discs as an additional installer program on its on. Furthermore once you upgrade to 10.5, you can't use Classic on your iBook G4 on the same hard disk or partition of hard disk, and must load it on a Firewire hard drive with 10.4.11 or earlier.
What you want is the 1.0.6 release of Age of Empires II that supports Mac OS X natively.

Aug 6, 2013 7:37 PM in response to a brodyby Certafied7,Okay I have got the update ready to go, but, it tells me that i have to locate the original AOE2 application onto my hard disc... I can't seem to find where that is, even with the disc in the drive...

Aug 7, 2013 1:44 AM in response to Certafied7by a brody,If you did manage to locate the installer on the CD and get it to work, it might have installed in an Applications Mac OS 9 folder instead of Applications. Otherwise, contact MacSoft tech support (they appear to have been taken over by destineer games) and ask how to get it to work when you don't have Classic working.

Aug 8, 2013 11:55 AM in response to a brodyby Certafied7,Is there a way I could play the first AOE without having to go through all of this. Or is there any other games that play on this laptop without any trouble installing?
