Why does my macbook air randomly not connect to the internet?

For some reason my Mackbook Air will sometimes not be able to find internet in my house. It will find every other internet connection in my apartment building, but it won't see mine, and I can't get online.

Sometimes restarting my computer like 5 or 6 times seems to work - but it's like a game of Russian Roulette. I can't figure out what makes it finally find the internet signal.

I know this is not my router as my iphone and my ipad never have any troubles connecting to my internet. They can both always find it and always connect.

This is the most frustrating thing!

Anyone have any ideas? Is there a fault within Notebook computers? And more importantly, is there a solution??

Power off the router. Wait awhile. Power it back on. Wait until all the lights are lit up properly.

It will take a while.

Restart the computer.

Start up in Safe Mode

Do you mean the Wi-Fi ??

Check System Preferences > Network > Advanced

Drag the wi-fi network you want to use to the top of the list.

And try diagnostics ... System Preferences > Network then click Assist Me then click Diagnostics.

Select your internet port. If any of the buttons on the left are red, cliick Continue.

That may narrow down the problem.

Thanks so much - however, I have tried this many times to no avail. :\

Do you think it could be something with the operating system?

Also, I have a friend with a notebook (not an air) that is having the same issue.

What is the make and model of your router? There have been many reports of older G based routers not working properly with AC based wireless cards, as are found in the Macbook Air.

When you say your friend has the same issue, do you mean they have the same issue on your network? What model is their computer?
