iPhone 5 flickering screen

hello from 2017 :)

i had a lot iPhones but this was the first time i had this bug..

my iphone 5 is still even this day on ios 6.0.1 and yesterday had exactly the same experience as yours..

i suspected that my screen was busted but since its relatively a new device.. browsed the web and the solution was to use the device on minimal light for 1-2 hours and the flickering desapired..

what was your experience if you remember from 2013 :)

Noted, i am using this Iphone 5S since last 3 years, never had any issue regards to anything, suddenly since last 4/5 days facing screen blurr/flickering issue because of which my eyes are strained too much...

As per your advice, i will disable auto brightness and use the mobile for 2-3 hours with minimal brightness and revert with updates!

alright PLEASE, stop sending us to websites that aren't specifically helping us. Do you REALLY think that we didn't already try all these things? I'm so over this.

Can you be a bit clearer on when it flickers, first turn on, using an app, making calls. Just so we understand better

Okay well I was actually face-timing someone when my phone froze then my screen suddenly went white. So I turned my phone off then turned it back on. I noticed something weird with the screen and that it kept flicering around the corners. I does it non-stop. Doesn't matter if I'm opening an app or on the lock screen, it just flickers.

I would see if it happens with it restored via http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 and set up as new that will tell you if its hardware, If it's not hardware add your back to the phone and see if it keeps happening, if yes its a corruption in personal files

I found this happened to my phone too after the ios7 updates. Solved by turning off auto-brightness. Since then all has been fine, just have to manually brighten/dim screen when I need to

Me too. I was trying to install iOS7.1. It wouldn't install due to lack of room. sync got stuck for an hour doing nothing so I unplugged from laptop. sync incidator still going on the phone so I shut the phone completely off and started it back up and it started flickering.

1 - Rebooting the phone doesn't fix it.

2 - Really? Reset like brand new - for a screen flicker? Are you kidding? I thought this was APPLE, not Microsoft?

Oh hey look. The 4th reboot fixed it.

Well. FIX is a strong word. "Made it stop flickering. For now."

If anyone still has this problem, an easy fix is to set your brightness to the lowest possible setting and leave it there for a little while. After maybe ten minutes, I set the brightness back to full and the screen wasn't flickering anymore. Better than rebooting several times.

I had this problem before and also like my screen went like lightly color stripes.

You can try hold power and home till it restarts and release after seeing the apple logo. Turn off auto brightness and set brightness between range lowest to middle.

Same for me: I switched auto-screen-brightness off, reduced the brightness manually and then switched auto-brightness back on. Flickering is gone for now.

I had the same issues! Turning off auto brightness and then adjusting the brightness from high to low solved my problem!
